Nicklas began his career at Bonzer as a Content Specialist in December 2020. When he had been with us for 3 months, Bonzer began looking for a new Lead Content Specialist. Although he knew it was a bit early in his career to chase that position, Nicklas gave it a shot — and he got the job.
What did you do before Bonzer?
"I’ve studied journalism and philosophy at Roskilde University, earning a Master’s degree in Communications.
I’ve previously worked as a journalist at a smaller news agency in Malmö. On the side, I worked as a research assistant at my university on a project about #MeToo in Denmark vs. Sweden. I’ve also worked as a communications assistant at Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen."
Why did you choose Bonzer?
"A close friend of mine had worked at Bonzer before and spoke highly of the company. At the same time I was looking to pivot my career from hardcore journalism to content creation in a marketing context. Bonzer seemed the ideal choice."
Which three words would you highlight about working at Bonzer?
- Young
- Cool
- Talented
What does a typical work day look like for you?
"I clock in, and I make myself a coffee. I then proceed to plan my day and assist my team with their various tasks.
Once my day is planned out, I get to work. In practise, this means writing content for our clients — content based on thorough research and data collection relevant to the topic at hand.
Often I also participate in many different meetings, working with both internal and external stakeholders to create the best content possible in relation to both SEO and the customer’s brand guidelines."
What’s the coolest thing about your job?
"As a manager (who somewhat quickly found success in my career), the coolest thing I know is paying my success forward to my team. I could go on and say something cringey like, 'When my team succeeds, we all succeed' — but in reality, I just really like seeing the people around me thrive.
My position offers me a unique opportunity to support that notion. And honestly, that’s about the coolest thing I can imagine"
What do you do when you get off work?
"I have a cute dog with my (almost equally) cute girlfriend. For anyone who's raised a pup, you'll know that that's about all you need to keep you busy outside of work.
I also enjoy gaming — and I do it both recreationally and competitively. Specifically, I play a lot of League of Legends. Here, I’m consistently placed among the top 1% of the European playerbase (just short of being Master Elo, if that means anything to you)."
How do you handle your work-life balance?
"'Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life', an old saying goes. I don't subscribe to that.
I think it's important to remember that no matter how much you love your job, most people still value their life more highly than their work — myself included. Work holds instrumental value, whereas life naturally holds intrinsic value.
So I’d rather say: 'Live your life lovingly. Instead of just working hard, work lovingly. Set boundaries to protect that love, and you will never have to strike a balance in your life'."
